Mc Henry County Conservation District's Ed Collins and Brad Woodson look over their work. The Nippersink creek near Chicago has been transformed from an agricultural ditch to its original meandering course.
After a half century of being confined to a narrow, straight channel, asmall Midwestern stream is being restored to its original meanderingpath. Not only has the newest incarnation of the creek become a home tomore wildlife, but it's protecting other areas from floods and becominga model for restoring other channelized creeks.
